Thank You! ************************************************************************************************************ Devotional by: Pastor Mike Corriero The need for Fellowship "And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." Acts 2:42 These new believers were continually devoting themselves to "fellowship". What is fellowship and what's so important about it, especially for new believers? Fellowship means 'sharing together what we have in common. What we have in common is the Lord, our faith in Him, the word of God, our relationship with God our Heavenly Father, answers to prayer, God working in our lives, and the lives of others through us, etc, etc .... The things of God are what we uniquely have in common. God set it up so that one of the ways we grow is in fellowship with other believers. When I first received the Lord in 1972, I didn't think I needed fellowship. I thought I could grow on my own. I fell right back into heroin and other stuff on the street. I got hepatitis, and was home recovering for 7 weeks. The first day I went out, it was July and I went to the beach and got high again. Then the Lord spoke something to my heart and I knew I needed to be with other believers. I began to fellowship at midweek meetings, go to church, and go over my friend's house as well during the week. Hebrews 10:25 ...... "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day draw near." As the day of Jesus 2nd coming draws nearer and nearer, we NEED the encouragement that comes from assembling together with other believers. What is encouraged is your faith and your obedience. Even the apostle Paul needed encouragement ...... "For I long to see you in order that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established; that is, that I may be encouraged together with you, each of us by the other's faith, both yours and mine." If the awesome apostle Paul needed encouragement from other believers in his faith, so do I. So do we.
